Mining Industry

Zinc sulfate is used as a critical depressor chemical in the flotation process, particularly in the separation of lead-zinc ores. During flotation, zinc sulfate also helps suppress iron sulfide minerals such as pyrite (FeS₂), prevents zinc from being unintentionally released into the foam during the flotation of lead minerals (e.g., PbS), and prevents activation by binding/reacting with copper ions.

Agricultural Industry

Zinc sulfate (in either the heptahydrate or monohydrate form) is used as a fertilizer additive in the agricultural sector to meet plants' trace element (micronutrient) needs. Zinc sulfate increases chlorophyll production in plants, regulates enzyme and hormone activation, accelerates root development, and increases yield and product quality.
